The creation of the Mojak sound is initially born in the recording studio and has its roots in all that influences the actors. With a soft spot for seventies grooves and playful art.

YUAR is Yuri Poisik and Arina Popova, a dynamic indie-pop duo merging elements of electronic, classical, rock and dance music. In anticipation of the international release of their debut EP ‘SIgnal’ the band is releasing it’s title track on the 10th of March.

Formed in Moscow in 2011 the band has a large following with performances all over Russia as well as a strong involvement in major cinematic and television soundtrack production. Looking for new inspiration they relocated to Tel Aviv’s bustling music scene where Arina made a powerful debut participated in the local edition of the show The Voice, where she was praised for her colorful entrance and thrilling performances.

The couple are also known for their work outside of the YUAR framework. Arina has conquered the hearts of Russian audiences during over a decade performing with Russia’s biggest folk and rock acts. Yury has arranged songs and played guitar with several acts. Their previous outfit RMF Band released a full length LP on the Ministry Of Sound label.

YUAR’s upcoming release ‘Signal’ is characterized by vivid imagery and bright melodies with Arina’s vocals proving to be both powerful and sensual. The resulting 5 track EP showcases an elegant yet eclectic sound that does not follow convenient guidelines.

I wanted to pass this your way to see if you might be interested- It’s the debut single “Birthmarks” from youthful quintet Bones Garage out on March 24th.

The track is an ideal introduction to the band marrying post-punk with surf rock aesthetics to create a luscious melodic sound that occasionally threatens to spin out of control.

It’s video was released previously in order to be eligible for film festival deadlines and has since won accolades at The Manhattan Film Festival, TMFF and Indie Fest.

The band are now following it up with Vinyl release in April 2016.

I’ve just released a new EP with two songs in Swedish and one song in English and would be honoured if you would listen to them.

1. Dina Drömmar
An song that I wrote and recorded some years ago, but as my recording skills has become better I wanted to give the song a new costume, and I really think it’s a successful makeover.

2. Ode to a friend
As the title of the song suggest it’s a tribute to a close friend that was taken away way to early in our 15’s. By far the most sentimental song I ever wrote.

3. Partisanen
A cover of La Complainte du Partisan, an old song from the French resistance movement during World War II and made famous by the fantastic Leonard Cohen. The lyric is a free translation of the English lyrics by Cohen. Original text by Emmanuele d’Astier de la Vigeria and original music by Anna Marley in 1943.
